Pen Type-B

Pen Type-B

A minimal everyday pen, over-engineered to last generations.

The ultimate pen for illustrators, designers, and architects.

Precision machined to create a piston-like effect between the pen and sleeve. The pen falls slowly and makes a nice popping sound when you pull it quickly from its sleeve.

No visible logo.

Precision machined flat so it won't roll off your desk.

A super minimal everyday pen, engineered to last generations.

The ultimate pen for illustrators, designers, and architects.

The ultra-high machining tolerances between the pen and sleeve create a piston-like effect. The pen falls slowly into its sleeve and makes a nice popping sound when you pull it out quickly.

Pen Type-B has no visible logo.

The brass sleeve purposely doesn't have a coating, so your Pen Type-B can develop its own unique patina over time as you handle your pen.

Titanium Pen Type-B is available with a matte black ceramic-polymer coating (Cerakote). The coating is durable, but over time it will wear to reveal the titanium underneath. We think it gives a kind of cool and rugged feel.

Pen Type-B in titanium weighs almost half the weight of its brass and stainless steel counterpart. It's got the hardness of stainless steel and the lightness of aluminum. That's really hard to beat. Titanium is the ultimate material. Both the sleeve and the pen are made of titanium.

Order a Pen Type-B with a custom laser engraving on the flat surface of the pen sleeve.

Available with a 3D printed fancy case.

Pen Type-B (along with all of our other pens) are manufactured at a multi-generation machine shop in Vermont. Each pen is carefully made above and beyond the necessary tolerances to ensure a perfect fit between the pen and the sleeve. It takes over 20 highly tuned operations to craft a Pen Type-B.

Pen Type-B ships with a Black Pilot Hi-Tec-C 0.3mm cartridge.

love the CW&T pens but the pen type B leaks like a sieve.

I just bought the Pen Types A, B and C as well as the key wrangler and the studio sketchbook. I love everything visually, tactilely, audibly and in every way possible. Unfortunately, my favourite pen to hold and look at, the Pen Type B, leaks like a sieve. Whenever I go to write with it, I need two napkins. One I roll up like a punk to clean out the barrel of the receptacle and one to clean the head of the pen device. It is leaking so much ink that the pen nib is already starting to dry out after only a couple of days. Do you think this is the Pen? Or is it the ink cartridge? If it is the latter, can you send me a new ink refill and I will try it out. If it is the former, may I please turn my pen in for a new one that doesn't leak. I have not had this problem with the other two pen types.

Hi Tom sorry to hear about the leaking! Can you check to see if the little metal tip is tight around the ink cartridge or not. If it's tight (requires twisting to remove it) that might be the culprit. If that's the case, we can send you a new tip along with a new ink cartridge. The other thing to try, if you haven't already, is cleaning out the sleeve with water and letting it dry. Have a little bit of ink or water at the bottom of the sleeve can draw out even more ink.

Type B upgrade

I have had a Type A pen for a couple of years and love it but considered the Type B an upgrade. I was right. More stylish, more comfortable, and oh so classy as it slides into its sleeve. My only complaint: the case was not available when I ordered and I see no way to order it separately.

A good pen

I have so far really enjoyed the feel and perfect design of the pen. The brass is a little heavy for extended writing and I want to try out the full titanium or ceracote version. When it is a quick need it is perfect, otherwise I leave the brass exterior off when composing longer letters. Craftsmanship is spot on. .03mm takes a second to get used to but it has improved my handwriting and is great for small details and not smudging

Do I really need a $250 pen. . .YES!

I have asked myself this question many times, as I role the pen on the desk back and forth, back and forth, or spin it in my hand like wand, or pull the pen out and let it slide back down-like a silent piston-all activities of an expensive distraction-toy. Do I need a $250 pen-this pen-absolutely. Everyone needs this pen. The craftsmanship is beyond reproach, the quality and thought that has gone into the design-this simple writing utensil-is exceptional, but it is so much more than a pen. In order to experience it you have to have one. I lost mine, and immediately had to replace it. Again, yes I really do need a $250 pen, but not just any $250 pen-this pen.

Amazing Pen

The CW&T Pen Type B is exactly as described - a sleek, minimalist, satisfying writing instrument. It is beautifully crafted. Not only do I enjoy writing with it, I receive compliments every time I use it. The personalized engraving makes the pen more unique and special to me. I hesitated to spend so much money on a pen, and now I have no regrets. If you enjoy pens and the Hi-Tec-C refills, this is the perfect pen.
