The Pursuit of Stillness is an interactive projection designed for Acconci Studio‘s Corian Furniture Installation in the lobby of the Bronx Museum of the Arts. Acconci’s installation is part of year long series celebrating the Centennial Year of the Grand Concourse.

The software was written using Open Frameworks with openCV with Optical Flow. The application controls 25 high speed video loops, each mapped to a trigger position on the floor. The video was shot using a Casio Exilim EX-FH20 and the camera tracking uses an overhead PS3 camera.

Crow’s Flight is a GPS compass app for the Android platform. Enter an address and the GPS compass will continuously update your position and point towards the destination. Distance to the point is displayed in meters or kilometers along with a visual distance gauge.

The red line always points north. The triangle points in the direction of the destination. The brightness of the triangle indicates the accuracy of your GPS fix. White being accurate and darker shades being less accurate.

To get it on your android device, go to the Market app on your phone and search for “crowsflight”. or click on the link->crowsFlight (only on Android devices)

Usage:
Go to the menu to record your current location so you can point back to it later.
Enter an address at the top textbox and press go.

crowsFlight is primarily meant for walking. Use it to track where you parked your car, camping, hiking, geocaching, getting lost, finding your way, hiding treasure, etc.

If your compass is acting weird, try calibrating it by spinning the phone on a flat surface really fast. Really. It worked for me.

P.Life is a large scale interactive screen designed for the IAC’s 120′ wide video wall. In the world of P.Life, Ps run across the 120′ screen frantically moving material from one house to another. Along the way, Ps exchange pleasantries (based on text message inputs) as they pass by each other, offering a helping hand to those in need. The landscape shifts and jolts based on audio input from the audience, tossing Ps into the air. Playful jumps into midair often end in injury, forcing them to crawl until a fellow P comes by to help out.

Features
Text messaging to create new characters of different sizes and dialogues.
Audio input to influence landscape
Performance backend to influence landscape
Ps move with life-like motion as they walk, jump, fall, run skip, crawl, carry boxes, push boxes, etc.
P.Life is written in OpenFrameworks and uses the Most Pixels Ever library
