Apesnake Photobooth is face and mouth detection photobooth built in openFrameworks using Kyle McDonald’s FaceOSC. A webcam detects a single face, tracks it’s position, and calculates the width and height of it’s mouth. When the eyes and mouth match our desired expression (in this case, the Manwolf face), the software triggers a Canon 1000D to take a photo and play an ape shriek. Photos are saved with a high resolution locally and automatically uploaded to Apesnake Manwolf’s Facebook Photos Page.

The Pursuit of Stillness is an interactive projection designed for Acconci Studio‘s Corian Furniture Installation in the lobby of the Bronx Museum of the Arts. Acconci’s installation is part of year long series celebrating the Centennial Year of the Grand Concourse.

The software was written using Open Frameworks with openCV with Optical Flow. The application controls 25 high speed video loops, each mapped to a trigger position on the floor. The video was shot using a Casio Exilim EX-FH20 and the camera tracking uses an overhead PS3 camera.

Working with producer extra-ordinaire Keira Alexandra and David Stark, we wrote software and live web-jocked content for two oversized laptops at the party. The framework allowed on the fly broadcast control over a debauchery of interactive media content:

- live video from in party mobile phones using Kyte
- twitter feeds with an Obama filter
- RSS news feeds
- in party text-messaging using textmarks
- election maps
- a cover it live blog from an in party blogging station
- election night you-tube videos
- election night flickr photos
- and more that we can’t remember right now

P.Life is a large scale interactive screen designed for the IAC’s 120′ wide video wall. In the world of P.Life, Ps run across the 120′ screen frantically moving material from one house to another. Along the way, Ps exchange pleasantries (based on text message inputs) as they pass by each other, offering a helping hand to those in need. The landscape shifts and jolts based on audio input from the audience, tossing Ps into the air. Playful jumps into midair often end in injury, forcing them to crawl until a fellow P comes by to help out.

Features
Text messaging to create new characters of different sizes and dialogues.
Audio input to influence landscape
Performance backend to influence landscape
Ps move with life-like motion as they walk, jump, fall, run skip, crawl, carry boxes, push boxes, etc.
P.Life is written in OpenFrameworks and uses the Most Pixels Ever library
